The tavern '' Diahronikon” in Haidari, Athens invites you to visit a traditional rural setting, housed in two old houses which, with the appropriate architectural interventions, were transformed in to a 'cellar'. “Diahronikon” is distinguished by its special aesthetics of a traditional Greek neighborhood’s environment with a lovely staircase leading to a spacious terrace, a real characteristic of a traditional greek house.
The food brings memories ofhomemade recipes from Epirus and, when combined with the wine, they travel the visitor to another era of old athenian summers!
I always loved tarts! Savory or sweet, tarts are an easy thing to make at home and they kind of help you save money. That's because you can use ingredients that you already have at home like milk or heavy cream that is close to expiration date, fruit or chicken leftovers from lunch....
Of course, a great plus is that kids love them and they can have a piece ( or two) at school, too, as tarts are, in their savory version, a real and complete meal!
It is an easy to made recipe! The only "requirement" is the puff pastry! And the most surprising thing is that you can make any combination with ingredients that you already have at home, like dried basil, thyme, sesame seeds etc. Or you can even choose the sweet version of that with sugar and cinnamon!
