After my recent trip to Capelle aan den Ijssel in the Netherlands, I have only nice memories to think about and share. Everything started when my good old friend and chef, Giannis Solakis, called me for a photographic project. So, here I am, driving for almost 2 hours before I arrive to “Irodion” a specialized in Greek food restaurant.
There I first met Giannis and we didn’t miss the chance to remember the first time we worked together when he was chef at the legendary “Big Deals”, a revolutionary and innovative bar-restaurant in Athens! Giannis is responsible for the exquisite Greek flavors that are served in Irodion, which I would describe more as a Greek comfort food with fresh ingredients and very tasteful and easy going combinations, big portions and generally food that you would enjoy to eat again and again!
The restaurant now, situated in a shopping center, was a very pleasant revelation! Very nice design, “clean” and cozy shapes and colors and with elegant, traditional Greek decoration hints, Irodion was the right place to be in that rainy day in the Netherlands! In fact, I felt that the more it was raining outside the more the restaurant was getting “brighter” and vivid!
And then I met the owners, the minds and souls behind this “miracle” in Capelle, Vicky and Kostas, and I realized right away that it was thanks to them that Irodion is such a pleasant and friendly place. Not to forget the excellent staff of the restaurant along with the chef Babis Villiotis! They were all extremely polite, friendly and professional! With all these elements, I have no doubt why Irodion is so successful and always full of happy satisfied locals!
I recommend it 100% !!!
